Drontal Plus for large dogs is an anthelmintic containing pyrantel as active (in the form of salt EMBONATE) febantel and praziquantel. It is active against certain nematodes and cestodes (tapeworms). In this fixed combination, and pyrantel febantel act synergistically against nematodes (Ascaris, ancilostomas and tricuros) of the dog. The spectrum of activity of praziquantel covers species of cestodes of the dog. Praziquantel is active in all stages of these intestinal parasites, common in dogs. Pyrantel acts as nicotine as a cholinergic agonist, causing a spastic paralysis of nematodes by depolarization of the neuromuscular block. The anthelmintic efficacy of febantel is due to its ability to inhibit the polymerization of tubulin to microtubules. The metabolic abnormalities, structural and functional resulting deplete energy reserves of the parasite and kill it in 2-3 days. Praziquantel is absorbed very quickly through the surface of the parasite and is equally distributed over her body. Tegumentary quickly leads to serious injuries, which lead to the alteration of metabolism and therefore to death.
