Daflon 500 is intended for adults seeking relief from symptoms associated with venous insufficiency in swollen legs or varicose veins, such as pain, heaviness, itching, or tightness.
For adults, the recommended dose is 2 tablets a day, one at midday and one at night, during meals. Relief should typically be felt within the first 2 weeks of treatment.
Those under 18 years of age or those allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication should not take Daflon 500.
Its use is also not recommended for pregnant women or breastfeeding women due to a lack of data on the use of this drug.
Side effects
Like all medications, this product can cause adverse effects, which may include:
Common: gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.
Uncommon: colitis.
Rare: nervous system disorders such as dizziness or headache, as well as skin reactions such as rash, itching, or hives.
Frequency not known: edema or swelling of the face, lips, or eyelids, as well as abdominal pain.
Daflon 500 is composed of 500 mg of purified favonoids as the main active ingredient. This active ingredient contains 450 mg of diosmin and 50 mg of hesperidin. The other excipients are: Sodium carboxymethyl starch type A from gluten-free potatoes, microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin, magnesium stearate, talc, sodium lauryl sulfate, polyethylene glycol 6000, and dry salmon coating premix*.
(*) The dry salmon coating premix consists of: titanium dioxide (E 171), glycerol, hypromellose, yellow iron oxide (E 172), red iron oxide (E 172), polyethylene glycol 6000, and magnesium stearate.
